National Youth Sports Awards
PCA's largest annual event was a massive success, with all tickets sold out, moving speeches by all the honorees and an exciting live auction that raised additional funds for the PCA Movement.
The event featured (from left) Stanford University legends Mark Madsen (event MC and former Stanford basketball star); Peter Varellas (Olympic Water Polo Medalist and former Cardinal); Dick Gould (Stanford's 17-time NCAA Champion Men's Tennis Coach and recipient of PCA's highest honor, the Ronald L. Jensen Award for Lifetime Achievement); Tad Taube (Stanford benefactor and president of the Koret Foundation, presenting sponsor of the Jensen Award); and Jim Thompson, who founded PCA within the Stanford Athletics Department. They are joined by Mark Edmunds (r.) of event sponsor Deloitte.

PCA's Jim Thompson with winners of PCA's Double-Goal Coach® Award Presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance (L. to R.) Jack Bowen, water polo coach at Menlo School, Menlo Park, CA; Karen Hadley, basketball and track and field coach at Claire Lilienthal Alternative School, San Francisco; and Eliot Smith, basketball and soccer coach at Lick Wilmerding High School, San Francisco.

A new feature at this year's ceremony highlighted the Liberty Mutual Insurance Responsible Sports Program Powered by Positive Coaching Alliance. That program's Top 10 Responsible Sports Moments of 2011 included an honor for the sportsmanship of high school hockey player Sabrina Iannetti (center), who boarded the bus of an opposing team to congratulate them on breaking her team's 100-game winning streak. Right of Sabrina are her parents, Denise and Stephen Iannetti; and at left are Liberty Mutual Insurance's Elaina Hamilton and Julie Brassard.
